Widest tire on 17 x 9.5 rim

I have some 17 x 9.5 ROH rims on my car and i was wondering if i could fit some Nitto 315's on them, or whats the widest I could go?

how were you planning to fit a 315 in the back? Some roll fenders to fit 275's in the back, some find it's not necessary w/ the correct backspacing (315's are roughly 1.5 inches wider than 275's). From what I understand, 275's should be ran on a 9.5-10" rim, so i'd say 275's are what you should shoot for. I'm still looking for a definate formula for tire-to-rim size though.

is it possible to fit a 315 in the rear with rolling my fender lip....will a 315 fit on a 17 x 9.5 rim?

it'll "fit" on the rim, but the tire is 3" wider than the rim, so that's 3 inches of bulge...kinda much i'd say....I still would like to see what others say as well.
