I'm interested in the 05-07 Mustang GT Wheels for my '68 Mustang, they are 18 x 8.5 and I don't know if 8.5 is too wide for the front wheels. Does anyone know if these will fit my '68? If so, what modifications do I need to make? Thanks

I think Bigmac is running those size wheels on his 68 coupe.

The 05-07 wheels have ALOT of backspacing and will probably require you to use spacers on the front brakes. I don't see why a 8.5" wheel wouldn't fit. I've several early Mustangs with 17 X 9" wheels (with proper backspacing).

I was most concerned about the front clearance. I'll probably just have to buy them and make them work, grind down the upper control arm, roll the fender lips, and figure out the correct spacer adapter to use. I was hoping someone had already tried this so I would know exactly what needs to be done. Thanks.

Has anyone tried these wheels on their Mustang?

I put a set of the 17" 05 Mustang wheels on my friends 67 Cougar. We used 1.5" spacers to get them to fit and they just barely cleared the upper arm and the fender.

I placed up (not mounted) a set of 18x8.5's to my 66' and because it was an 18" wheel, it just cleared the top of the a-arm. You should have no problems.

Thanks guys, I was hoping someone had already installed these specific wheels and could give me the spacing and tire size used, but I can buy them and figure it out.

Search for "18x9" and you'll see many threads discussing 18x9 wheels and how they fit. Dodgestang's wheel fitment chart will also turn up in that search, it has detailed information about wheel and tire combos that fit.

I left out - from the 18x9 info you should be able to figure out what to use for 18x8.5

No problem - I've done tat search about 20 times myself, trying to figure out which combo I like best. Here's dodgestang's chart by the way
