will 93 t-5 bellhousing work?

i tried to search the forums, but "bellhousing" is too long of a word evidently and i got an error.

Anyway - 94-95 t5 bellhousing's are scarce - what happens if i can get my hands on a 93? WHat is the difference?

Are there issues w/ teh driveshaft length as well? (driveshaft is from the car - but an AODE was in the car before i blew up - twice).

You can use a Fox bellhousing, but the input shaft on the T5 has to match. If the T5 is a 94/95 version, you need a 94/95 bellhousing, or you'll need to swap out the input shaft. Driveshaft should be fine either way, it's not *that* huge of a difference.

it will work. you can do what dave said or you can just get a driveshaft spacer for like $30 (i got mine used). thats pretty much all i did and it works perfect. but if you are using a t-5 from a 94-95 then you will probably have to go with what dave said

so if i have a t5 out of a 93 then i use the fox bellhousing? Is the input shaft a different length between the two transmissions?

I guess i'm a little confused as to what the difference is - i looked into a lakewood bellhousing as a last resort - and they list one part number for 86-95 - which makes me wonder if they realize there is a difference between the two - or maybe they expect you to run the fox body transmission. Or maybe it's a typo on the website.

Yes, there is a difference in the input shaft length. The 94/95 is 5/8" longer, and the bellhousing is 5/8" deeper to compensate.

lakewood probably sells the same bellhouseing and then sells a 5/8 spacer if its for sn95. ive heard that before. you could probably use this same spacer to make a sn95 trans fit a factory fox bellhousing

hey hazmat, are you talking about a spacer between the flanges on the differential end? and is it absolutely neccesary to use the spacer or is the slip shaft long enough?

So, if i get this right, i can use a fox body t5, as long as i get the input shaft for my 94? or do i need the shaft AND the bellhousing...

If you have a Fox T-5, then you can either a) use a Fox bellhousing, or b) replace the input shaft in the T-5 with one from a 94/95 T-5, and then use a 94/95 bellhousing.

If you have a 94/95 T-5, then you can either a) use a 94/95 bellhousing, or b) replace the input shaft in the T-5 with one from a Fox T-5, and then use a Fox bellhousing.

Other than input shaft length, the T-5's are basically identical. Just make sure that you use the same version of the input shaft as you do for the bellhousing. If you use the wrong versions, then you will either have an input shaft that does not insert properly into the pilot bearing (bad), or you won't be able to get the tranny in far enough to bolt it down properly.

The driveshaft spacer is not strictly necessary, but it's not a bad idea. Without it you will have 5/8" less engagement between the yoke on the driveshaft and the tailshaft of the tranny.

well i used a 93 t-5 w/ 93 bellhousing. everything else was from my auto 95. i just used a 5/8" spacer at the back of the driveshaft to compensate for the input shaft length diff. that is what you do if you dont get a diff input shaft
