You made the exact point I was trying to make, if you use SN95 Brakes then you should stick with SN95 Wheels and not some one off made wheels and then you will not have any problems
First, sorry for reviving a thread that had pretty much died, but I do have a Q on this subject, and wanted to here from the other posters in this thread.
I finally checked my wheel dims and looked at the part number on my uprights. They are 94 uprights (F4...). My front wheels have an offset of 24 and the rear of 36.
I have a sn95 rear end with sn95 axles paired with the 36 offset wheels. I did not have to hammer the outer fender lip much until I put in the 275 tires on the 17x9 rear wheels. I still have the quad shocks in place, and have not needed to reverse them since clearance is not an issue on the inboard side.
In the front I have 255s on 17x9 wheels (24 offset). I have had to hammer quite a bit on the outer fender to get clearance, and they still rub slightly when I hit a bump on a hard corner. At full turn the tires do rub very slightly on the inner fender liner (inboard FWD side), just enough to leave a clean spot.
Is this different than what most people do when they convert their brakes. Are my rubbing issues due to having the wrong parts somewhere? If I can change out some parts to improve tire clearance, that would be nice.
I am not sure what the offset for SN95 Wheels are, if you can find that info it may help. The 94/95 Spindles give you the most clearance, so you have the correct parts, sounds more like the wheels being your problem. You might wish to purchase some rack limiters to stop that rubbing on your inner fender.
hey shaker, i just finally read your reply to my post a few moments ago, where you mentioned that my rubbing may be the tire touching the a-arm, i don't think that's it, the a-arms don't have any "clean" spots on them.
but there are a couple small rub marks on the fender skirt though...no biggie though
If you want to run factory 17x8 bullitts...you are fine with any rear setup you choose.
If you decide to run 17x9 bullitts...you need to choose a rear setup that retains the stock fox track out back. That's either 5-lug drum or using the North Race car brackets for a GT or Cobra rear disk setup.
Oh and FYI, if you run SN95 rear disks and axles, you can ONLY USE 94-98 AXLES!! That means if you grab the brake hardware off an '02 V6, leave the axle shafts they are too long. You need to grab 94-98 axles. FOrd made the axle housing wider in 99 for the wider body. The brake hardware is all the same jst axles changed in '99

Even if your wheel has not made contact with your A Arm, if it is rubbing anywhere you should probably put some rack limiters in. They are easy to do and only take a few minutes per side.
