I just recently bought a 1999 Mustang GT as a bit of a project, and the fuel rails were ruined on it. I found a 98 Mustang GT set of rails for sale, but Im worried they won't fit
The 1999-2004 Mustang GT has a return-less fuel system applied to a PI motor. The system uses a fuel rail pressure sensor (FRPS) to "tell" the PCM what the fuel pressure is.
The 1996-1998 Mustang GT has a return style fuel system applied to a non-PI motor. This system uses a fuel pressure regulator to control pressure.
The rails may or may not fit (PI vs non-PI). However it seems to me that the bigger problem is the basic difference in HOW the fuel system works (return-less vs return). How will the PCM "know" what the fuel pressure is without a FRPS?
