Does anyone one know if an H pipe from a Lincoln Mark VII fill fit on my 92 5.0 LX? I know they are both Fox Bodies. For some odd reason the emissions people here won't let me use my BBK because it only has 2 cats.
I remember a long time ago there was some sort of paperwork or certification passed that allowed the 2-cat H-pipes to pass on a Mustang. Unfortunately i do not remember what it was or where to find it..but i remember reading it

That's some BS right there. The newer 2-cat pipes are more efficient and effective than the old four-cat systems. The only reason they decided to fail me for my UPR X-pipe this year on Lynn's Capri was because some butthole inspector randomly decided it was a big deal that there wasn't an AIR tube going into the thing. He apparently didn't care WHERE the tube went on the exhaust, just that it was an "open connection." What's truly retarded is that the same station passed the same X-pipe on teh Notch A MONTH AGO and it was set up exactly the same way, but ... whatever.
Do they have more than one smog station around where you live? I'd try a different location. Just make sure EVERYTHING ELSE on the car is 100% in order, or they'll nitpick you to death. The idiot that failed the Capri picked on a non-functioning item (the AIR tube to nowhere), but completely overlooked a disconnected vacuum line coming right off the intake to the EGR valve.
It is amazing because have never had a problem getting through before. All my emissions equipment is there. I have always tried to keep things legal which makes even more frustrating. It ran cleaner with the BBK cats then stock ones ever did. I had to go to there main office where the Dbag there told told me that no BBK h pipes were legal and he had even talked to them on the phone. I played hs bluf and called BBK. They sort told me the same thing but that the cats themselves were legal. They also told me they are good up to 350 inches. I called the emissions place after I talked to BBK and relayed this info long with there phone number. I swear I am just going to weld two fake cats on.
What state are you trying to pass this in? Pretty much all the other states model their smog inspections after CA's at least to some degree, but I think only CA seems to give a crap about the actual number of cats. If everything is hooked up and it blows numbers within spec, then most places don't give a crap if you have two or twenty cats under there.
Worst-case scenario, you wind up hunting the Craigslist or eBay ads for a used stock H-pipe, which usually sell for $50 or $75 on average.
FWIW, I know that you can throw a Mustang exhaust onto a Mark VII by simply adding a couple of extensions between the flow tubes and the mufflers. However, I don't know of anyone that's gone the opposite route and tried to put a Mark VII exhaust on a Mustang - I dunno if Ford extended the H-pipe on those, or if they used the same H-pipe and just made the cat-back portion different between the two. Also, the tranny crossmember hangers might be different between the two, but ... never tried it, myself.
I am in Arizona and this has never been a problem until now. My buddy just had an h-pipe lying around from his Mark Vii so I thought I would ask instead of finding out the hard way.
