i was wondering will a pop open gas cap fit a 66 model? If so what years?

Yes...one off of any other year classic Mustang with a flat taillight panel will work. Check out the 70 Mach1 gascaps, they look cool

A mustang and ford magazine article on restomod stuff says a 1970-1973 pop open cap will fit a 65 or 66 model.

70 cap works perfect - you can use the insert of your choice in the center. Here's the 70 cap with a 67/68 Shelby insert.

The 71-73 cap is a little larger, and requires some minor clearancing on some cars...
