ok my 3rd gear grinds everything i go in 3rd, so i called ford and they said it would be covered under warranty unless they found abuse of the tranny, so i am wondering if they will still cover it w/ all the mods i have done to it...

had any one else had this problem please let me know

i dont think they will cover it. i think when they notice the stuff youve done they will think you race it and that is abuse, but atleast put the stock shifter in if your going to try.

if you still have the stock shifter put that on with some black RTV. that will help. but they could say that there are mods to the motor that could void the warrenty on the tranny.

This is a local call made by the service manager or the regional Ford rep. With your mods, you may be screwed. When you modify a car that if that new you really need to be prepared to pay for this stuff out of pocket. All you can do is put your tail between your legs and hope for the best.

They will NOT cover your warranty. You need to take out your gears. Thats what they voided mine over.

I would try to put everything back to stock, or as much as possible just to be safe. They can't say anything if you are stock, or they have to prove that whatever aftermarket part they are blaming it on is what is causing the problem. Also, put some crappy tires on instead of the Dr's. If they wanna be a**holes about it, they could say something about them.

They better not ask questions about your throwout bearing! So many mustangs have had that problem that they shouldnt even bother to check to see if it could be something else.

As you see, everyone has an opinion... as 03poon said, it really depends on the dealer...those mods should not void your warranty.

That one law is a lot more complicated. While one section of that law does indeed require that the manufacturer prove that the aftermarket part is to blame, another section allows the manufacturer to void the entire warranty if there is any sign of abuse.

It is that other section of that law, which car/truck manufacturers are starting to use to their own advantage. Basically, if you make performance mods to your car, they can assert that you are making use of those mods. "Racing" is abuse.

The mod(s) itself/themselves don't even have to have any direct involvement with the failed component. Abuse voids the warranty on everything.

i thought i replied to this yesterday, but i didnt. i brought my car to one of the worst(for voiding warranties) dealers in town(because they do the best warranty work) and even with all my mods and drag radials on the car, they rebuilt 2-3-4 gears for 1200 dollars and let warranty take the hit. The service manager said he was thinking about it, but then i asked him if he could prove in court that my mods broke my car. They let it go. I dont think they like me very much tho.
