i am planning on buying ford racing 4:10 gears for my 2004 gt (automatic)

my question is will these gears totally **** up my odometer
if i ever plan to sell my stang i dont want the mileage like tripled

thanks

Yes it will affect your speedometer/odometer. Since you have an automatic, you'll need a tune, or a hand-held tuner to have the PCM account for the change. A handheld tuner will not only allow you to fix that, but also mess with tons of other settings you'll probably appreciate (like shift firmness, timing advance, etc.)

The gears could cost anywhere from $200 to $800 to have installed. Some people have connections, some don't.. I suggest asking around your area til you make a friend.. it may save you couple bucks.. (2 phone calls got me free parts and labor on my FMS 3.73's.)

The predator you definately can do yourself. I would assume there's a manual included, and if that's not clear enough, they have a site with all sorts of info on it.

Yep what he said, reprogram your speedo settings to match the gears, and youll be right ontrack:nice:

That's a pretty good sounding deal if it's at a reputable place. I think I said earlier, I was quoted around $600 from most places here (for labor only).. and everything seems to be a little more expensive here than everywhere else for some reason.

did you try www.bieberfever.com in tempe i have bought some stuff from them but i never asked how much for gears when i used to live there

if all you need is adjustment for the gears I would ask the dealership. I know on my dodge truck when I put 37's on it for $36 they were able to reflash the pinion factor to correct for the extra 5" of tire. I would expect to pay more for a mustang but I would rather have a ford reflash than a speedcal.

now on you car a tuner can do other things but it cost quite a bit more.

Yea, get a tuner. Us 5spd guys can either get tuners or a Speedcal. BTW, you guys think 550 is an alright deal for gears plus install? This includes everything

Wow -- apparently everything IS bigger in Texas -- including gear install prices. Up here in the Northeast everyone I've talked to has paid $200-250 for the install. (Which makes it about $400 or so total including the gears)
