Will going to 7k hurt my engine?

i just missed a shift and went t0 7k. it sounded like it was detinating. very bad. however it runs fine, could i have messed anything up not apparent now? oh i have trickflow valve springs.

nah i duno.. its probably not good but bouncing it off the rev limiter wont kill ya.. just dont do it often.. or ever if possible lol

It couldn't have gone to 7k. The limiter comes in at 6250. Your tach is probably off.

You can't rev more than 6250 rpm with factory computer. BUT you're tach can be so inaccurate at the high end of the range that it shows 7000 rpm. That sound you heard was most likely the rev limited kicking in. 6250 rpm plus 10% is 6875. It's been documented that factory tach's can be 10-15% off at the high end of the scale.

oh thanks now i feel much better lol, i dident even know we had a rev limiter!! ya my tach is def off, cause i was looking at it, oh whell, that is good, i bet my valve train, etc is fine, since i got heavy duty springs. cool.

some of the 94s had a 7k limiter

7k = nono on the stock cast crank and berrings.

Mine has a 7000rpm limiter FROM THE FACTORY just like Snoozer said. I have verified this with my EEC Tuner and on the dyno. I have made pulls over 6300 already... and that is WITH the STOCK AFR valve springs, not the upgraded ones.

Just checked the T4MO bin and the rev limiter is set to 7,000 rpms. So some definitley go to that.

It's for a T4MO bin, which 94-95 car use, so yeah, I guess. J4J1 has a 6250 limiter.
