Well I bought the Mustang knowing that the odometer didnt work. Its stuck at 89k. When I bought it my friend said that he would guess it had around 115K on it. I have heard that the miledge is NOT stored in the ECU. the speedometer and all the other things in the cluster work fine except the trip meter. Will I ever be able to find out what kind of miledge I have on my car. And will I ever be able to get a clean title?

Does your car have the digital odo? If so, take it to the dealership, they're the only ones who can change it.

Run a CarFax check on it, and then do some math.

At some point in the mileage history on the CarFax check the mileage will stop somewhere around 89K and not show any increase in subsequent entries on the report. This will tell you approximately when the odometer got stuck at 89K.

Then, add in about 12K to 15K per year for every year between the year the odo got stuck and 2006. That will at least get you some idea of where you are on total mileage.

Ok, does anyone know where I ca get teh little gears that i have to change to get it fixed? I figure I can do what MLC said and then get the odo as close as possible. I hate having to guess how long I have had my oil it. I just started changing it every 2 months.

O and this will prolly make a difference, the odo and trip meter are broken.

A lot of new cars store the milage in the CEM (central electronic module) so even if the cluster takes a crap u still got the milage. Unfortunatly not on ours , sucks

Hey buddy Im in the same boat..When i got my car, the odometer was frozen at 86k but mine was rolled back and frozen because when i got the title 3 days after i bought the car, the mileage stated on the pink was 113k and that was back in november 02 i believe..So dont feel bad..I got screwed on my car. Anyhow..dont fret..If you dont fix it yourself you can get a whole used gauge cluster out of a 94-95 for about $100 from http://www.prestigemustang.com/ and when i called the guy said he can do his best to find one with 100k or less
