Hey guys I'll be getting 3.73's in my car soon and I was wondering if my rear end will hold up with the new gears and maybe some nito 555's . I just read a few threads about rear ends sh1ting out because people had slicks and 4.10's . What would I have to do to beef up the rear end? Thanks!

Tanner

you could get 31 spline axles, with something like the eaton posi. but you really don't need to worry about it. I'm assuming you're talking about the drag radials. I run those tires with 4.10s at the drag strip and haven't had any issues at all. You won't launch hard enough to break anything and you won't hook up good enough to either

Ehhh, the odd weekend romp at the track on drag radials isn't gonna kill ya. It's true, that any time you start adding serious traction, that you're stressing the axles and other rear end components and increasing the risk of breaking something, but considering you're major mods are an FIPK and a Custom Moon Roof.....I don't see your 8.8 going South, any time soon. :D

:( I like my custom moon roof LOL...thanks for the info guys.

you may like your custom moonroof but i doubt it will break your rear end. LOL :)

well as these guys said when you add more mods i would swap out to a 31 spline carrier and axles rebuild the limited slip and use a tiny tiny bit of friction modifier. in fact use just enough to stop the rear from chattering around corners. <--- that will not make it stronger but it will help you to hook up. plus you should weld the tubes.
