I'm thinking about buying a used procharger intercooler because I think it could work well for my setup.

It is a 2-core procharger intercooler, does anyone know if these are good units?

Does anyone know if it would fit?

Yes it would work - but the tubing is small, and the 2 core units aren't very efficient and won't support much HP compared to their 3 core models. I would just make your own intercooler kit, they sell complete piping kits on ebay, and as another member here as posted Treadstone makes good and affordable intercoolers.

what is involved in the installation? Is there a write-up on it? Would i need to fab anything?

Tons and tons and tons of writups and experience threads. I made one, and a couple other guys have too. There is even a feature on stangnet.com articles from way back when of a DIY setup (though it was a kinda silly setup in the end lol).

Just search for DIY intercooler in 4.6l tech and talk.

i have a v1 s-trim with no cooling. do you have an afm power pipe? i have looked at mine and i just dont think that i could squeeze two 3" pipes between the s/c and the power pipe.

I have a copy of a Anderson power pipe that I made myself. You have to reclock the blower so it dischargers down toward the driver side front tire. Then I copied how fast track runs there stang intercooler kit and took a hole saw and put a hole next to the frame rail right behind the power pipe and ran the pipe up to the throttle body.
