will turndowns affect the sound??

right now my exhaust STOPS right after the muffler, the exit hole on the mufflers are the end of my exhaust.

My question is will some turndowns be worth the money?
I posted something a while back and people suggested i get them since my car is shooting hot exhaust on bushings and stuff.

Will they affect the sound of the car?
Its pretty loud now just doesnt have that "thing" to it.

They will muffle the sound a little bit. The will also direct the exhaust down to the ground, allowing you to kick up dust/leaves whatever when you rev your engine for a cool effect.

they wont make it any quiter, if anything they might be a little louder, b/c now the sound is hitting the ground and deflecting back up at the car. but he is right its cool when you shoot the dirt and leaves everywhere. I couldn't take the dumps i should have saved my down pipes i would have given them to you. If you have 2 1/2 inch pipe i would just buy the prebent pieces from napa and cut them and put them on yourself. Good luck with that loud stanger.

I had to cut my custom exhaust at the muffler when I did my 5 speed swap. I drove the car around like that for a while. I got tired of the gas smell in my car, so I added the turndowns. I did not notice any change in sound, but the strong gas smell in my car is almost completely gone.

I like my turn downs on my car because they make your car sound faster than it is. The drawbacks to turn downs are the fumes, which can be pretty bad and make your clothes smell, and kicking up dust all over your freshly washed car.

I have a set of tailpipes but I am debating on whether or not to use them.

i love the turndowns on my car because it makes the car a lot louder but it does through the smoke right in my face but i dont care.

I cut off my tail pipes and loved how it sounded, than i put dumps on it, and it quieted it right up, you could feel it more my friend told me, but it was just too quiet, to i took them back off and its now loud as balls, but that was before i put the H pipe on - havent tried it since then.
