I have a 1988 mustang GT and am curious about something. When I bought my car the window frames had some rust pitting. I had it fixed, and then noticed one day looking at pictures of other fox stangs that they appear to have a black plastic molding over the window door frames. Is this right? Anybody have pictures or something close up to clear this for me?

The belt moldings below the windows have plastic over them. You can get them new from 50Resto or from the dealership.

And the window frame portion of the door does not?

I've never seen plastic molding for the window frame on the door. They do make plastic covers for the quarter window moldings though.

Looking at this picture above, although the car is red it is black around the windows. Every fox pic I see, this is the case, the frames are black no matter the color. Is this painted black from the factory, or is there a black trim piece around the window?

But is that a trim piece, or the door skin around the window is painted black?

No, it is not a trim piece. It is simply metal. If you're looking to repaint it I recommend SEM brand. I recently redid mine and was very pleased with the results.
