I guess it was inevitable. I didn't knock on wood when I read Rob's (RC) thread a while back on how to fix a broken power window. So, right at work my driver window gets stuck halfway down :bang:

Anyway, I took apart the lift motor and sure enough the bushings were all chewed up and everywhere. All I need to know is where to get the Cardone kit mentioned in the FAQ's. Local autoshops don't have it.

Thanks,
Joel

Thanks for the replies guy's. I might have to try the "homemade" method, but my white plastic gear is a little chewed up. So, I'm not sure I can get away with just new torque pins.
Joe, if you could get back to me on the Cardone kit (if '92 works, ect.), I'd appreciate it.

Is your existing gear missing teeth, or is it's inner diameter of plastic all chewed up...
When mine went it was just the inside that was all crappy. I cleaned it out and then epoxied the gear into place. If you do this, just be sure to fill it all around the gear (no pockets of space), if there is space, over time the bond will begin to degrade and you end up back at square 1.
If you have the ambition, regrease the the main worm drive, while everything is pulled apart.

Damn, am I cheap or what?!
good luck

I had to rebuild both of my motors, and it cost a buck. buy 3 1/4" nuts from your hardware store, fine thread or coarse, your preference, and drop them in place, they go in pretty tight and will make up for any chewed up insides. THey work great, just watch those hands up in there. And clean out the motor with degreaser and put more grease in when ur done or they'll make noise.

If you have kids I would NOT do this...The reason those bushings are nylon and break is that theyre made to NOT chop someones head off in the even they stick their heads in there..
