Electrical Windshield wiper motor hitting firewall

I’m currently working on my 1990 GT and the windshield motor was running super slow so I replaced it with a new one from Oreilly’s. It’s a 2 plug motor. First revelation the arm hits the mounting bracket flange edge inside the cowl. I looked through google and couldn’t find anything on the length of the motor shaft. When it’s out of the car it spins fine on high only.

has anyone else encountered this issue?

Apparently not, did you compare it to the old motor?

I didn’t measure the Shaft that the arm bolts to. Everything bolts up They also took my old
One as a core
