Put me in the 99% aftermarket hood category , but mine was self inflicted.
Forgot to put my hood pins in , good thing I was in the process of slowing down for the stop sign
at the end of my street, about 10mph and zip hood straight up.
Minimal cowl damage compared to what I've seen , has since been repaired but
back to factory hood for me, had to cut a hole in it for my 393 though.

Ok got my motor today that was listed as a 93. Removed the mounting plate and it’s wrong. I am very confused.
the black circles are where the cowl is tapped and the little pen dots are where the mounting plate sit.

Definitely doesn’t match my ‘88, so it’s likely not an 87-93 cowl. Bottom hole way off

Crazy. Must have been replaced sometime before I got it. I did buy it from a friend that got it back in the mid 90’s. He says he never replaced the cowl but who knows Before he had it. There is a 85 motor on eBay for 100.00. I will try prestige tomorrow and see what they have. I hate to spend 100.00 and be wrong again.

Don’t you already have an ‘85 motor?

from what I can see, there’s a 79-86 and an 87-04 motor

Not sure what the motor is. I ordered it from LMR years ago. BUT the car has an 87 dash, column and harness in it. Another BUT the motor I have came off the crushed cowl and fit it with no issues

I've thought about running a cable that could be attached through the hood as a third safety catch.

Ok so a local yard had a 84 . Jumped in the truck and went to get it. Definitely different. Will test fit before powdering

Well crap. Mounting bracket off a 84 fits the car. Unfortunately the 87 motor doesn’t fit the bracket. This is really frustrating. Guess I am going back to the 87 bracket just have to drill holes and use nutcerts don’t really see a way to put these together and it be any easier or cleaner looking.

The car has a 87 interior, column, and harness so it is all different. I know the guy that did that but he swears he never changed the cowl which I believe. He does not do bad work but I would swear the one I pulled out was factory from the spot welds to the seam sealer.
