i have a 2000 gt that i blew a chunk of #3 spark plug hole out with 10 lbs. of boost. and now im looking into heads. i have come to the realization that i have a windsor block (14 bolt valve covers). according to patriot performance cylinder heads, their staged heads will not fit my block, does anyone know why and what exactly is different and what heads and cam setup would be ideal for a weekend ripper with 37k and a vortech charger. will romeo style heads fit with diff. valve covers or will i have other issues ???? some help PLEASE.

When you say chunk, you mean it took out a big peice and destroyed it? Or it just took the threads out?

If its not too extensive you can probaly heli-coil or time-sert it.

I was looking through a Summit racing catalouge earlier actually and they had Patriot heads for both Windsor and Romeo engines. Some will say to keep clear of Patriot, but I dont have any personal experience.

i think it is b/c they have different valve covers for the windsor/romeo. so the heads will have different bolt locations

Patriot doesn't offer P&P'd heads in Windsor and Romeo? I wouldn't use them anyway...
Now www.vtengines.com does offer worked heads in Windor as well as Romeo...i have a set

All you'd need is a set of cam covers from a romeo engine to make it work.

I just want to make sure that you realize that spark plugs don't just blow out because of high boost pressure. If the plugs are removed and installed using the correct procedure they will NOT blow out.

Always remove and replace plugs in a DEAD COLD engine.

Remove the COPS or boots and blow out the spark plug well with compressed air before removing the plug.

Remove the plug and make sure you are using the correct plug going back in. These plug holes are screwy because they use long reach plugs but only bottom portion of the threads.

If you use anti-sieze, which I highly prefer, use ONLY copper based anti-sieze and a VERY thin coat making sure not to get any past the threaded portion of the plug.

Start the plugs in carefully and turn one or two turns with your fingers on the extension before running them in the rest of the way with the ratchet.

Then TORQUE THEM TO 13 FT-LBS.

If you will follow this procedure you will have no more plug thread problems, unless the plug threads have been misused previously.
