All this expense for wings and stuff..got me wondering do they actually work...cobra wing, saleen wing, stock wing, or no wing (wich i think looks nice), any of those wings usefull for other then looks...if so why dont they advertise it and tell you before u get something like that....the stock wing dont look like it would work but i think sometimes maybe it does who knows theres no test on them from what i know....

have anyone done such a test??? do anyone know??

my saleen wing has a noticeable effect at higher speeds, at 100+ the rear felt much more solid. of course, I dont go that fast too often, soooo for daily driving it is useless, but if you do the occasional long distance race or your drag car is into the single digits then yes a wing may be in order. dont let anyone give you any crap for having a wing either. form follows function.

I know some hate the Saleen wing but it still looks good to me.

If there "IS" an effect it wont happen under a 100 MPH. The wings on 5.0's from the factory are pretty much for looks.

I dont even think that with any fox wing design...there will be any appreciable downforce added. The saleen wing would be the most promising aside from a decent sized sheet metal lip (with support struts) like they use in nascar. I dont think you would see any downforce at all until you are well into the triple digits.

never triied the no wing @120 thing but imma go by your testimony lol.....my lug nuts arent that big....so the sallen wing is best out there..what about 93 cobra wing... anyone know of any other wings??

I know from carrying large objects in the back of an LX that the spoiler does work. When we hit about 30mph, the wind hitting the spoiler would push the hatch closed only to have it open back up at stop lights because the lawnmower arm was sticking out. I've never tried it w/ my GT...but I assume (because of the gap underneath) that it would not work as well for downforce.

As for the Saleen wing......ewwwwwww....never was there an uglier piece of fiberglass mounted to the back of a Fox.

For some reason the Fox coupe is the only type that looks good w/o a spoiler though. A hatchback w/o a spoiler looks naked...like something is missing. I remember seeing some older 81-82 GLX's that didn't have spoilers. Its not pretty.

The LX wing (GT wing on 79-86) is actually the best out of the GT/Cobra/LX. It does the best job of "spoiling" the airflow over the rear of the car and reducing drag.

The Steeda wing is a good wing as well.

Saleen wings do provide some downforce at speed.

I think there are a few wings out there now, I seen (yes stupid aluminum-lol) a cobra R wing on a GT, the regular lx wing, Gt wing, cobra wing, Saleen wing, rice boy turbo wing-has a lip on the end that rises up, svo wing on 4 cyl turbo stangs. Still trying to figue out how the top secton spoils the air on those cars. There is just so many. maybe some magazine should to a spoiler/wing test on how much downforce it would produce at wind speeds of 130+, well some how like a wind tunnle. there is so many out there. My fav is the steeda aero-wing. I looks so cool and I bet it does work.

I agree. The Steeda wing is sweet and looks as if it would be functional. YET you hardly ever see a car with one on it. I should start a Fad!

i love the whale tale saleen wing. it looks great on a hatch but not too bad on a notch.

Saleen wings add downforce at ANY speed because they weigh like 10 or 15 frickin' pounds. Dead weight over the rear end aids traction.

wow i never knew about the steeda wing... i dont think the saleen wing looks bad tho... Why hasent there been a test for wings?? All the test done on mustangs but no wing test...was there ever a wing test??..would anyone switch to the most effective one , if the test was done???? is the saleen wing really that heavy??

the saleen wing weighs in closer to twenty, well at least mine does.
as for the testing, how often are you traveling at speeds where a wing is necessary? unless you are constantly in the triple digits there just isnt a need for it.

well i like the stock gt wing personally, BUT if there were proven downforce numbers or something, i may consider a saleen or something. they look good on certain cars. i like to get on it to 180+(km/h) for a few seconds almost every highway trip i make, a little assurance i still have traction at that speed would be nice. i'd like to see some numbers!

An LX hatch or a GT with a cowl hood makes the Saleen wing look more at home, but throwing one onto an otherwise 100% OEM Fox of any sort looks a little bit weird, to say the least. And just about ANY wing (aside from a subtle ducktail spoiler or a functional aluminum drag wing) on ANY notch =

I do have the old (genuine) Saleen wing that we took off of Frankenstang's Capri, so if y'all want, I can weigh that on the bathroom scale when I get home tonight...?

that would be cool to see how much it does actualy weigh, Im getting my steeda wing in a month. should be a quick easy bolt on since it has the same holes and mounting points just like an h/b lx

Id like to see the numbers too....there are sometimes i push over 100 MPH...not a everyday thing but when i do itll be good to know my wing is doing its job...
