hey i just got in my new winshield wiper arms and put them on and they still skip going up, not coming down. im using my used teflon wipers. whats it gonna take to make them stop? does their position have anything to do with it. right now they are set so when they are off there as close to the hood as possible, meaning lowest without hitting winshield molding. what can i do to make them stop?

Position shouldn't make them skip. Maybe time for new wiper holders/refills. You may have wax or something on the windshield or the refills that is causing the skip. A good window cleaner or maybe some alcohol should remove the buildup. They also make special cleaners for glass that helps remove dried on waterspots and such.

The following are links to the different parts of the wipers

wiper arms

wiper blades ( they come with the refills attached)

wiper refills (these can be replaced on the wiper blades and is cheaper than buying wiper blades when not needed yet)

The sprayer is located on the cowl grille and has nothing to do with your wipers skipping unless you have something you shouldn't have in your reservoir.

Hope this helps clear the mystery up.:flag:

your arm springs are weak....The blade rests at the bottom with the blade folded facing up....that's why the blade skips going up cause it's still facing up and it's pushing the blade while the contact point is facing the wrong direction....then comming down it's draging down causing a smoother sweep....Hard to explain but it makes sence to me.

Watch the blades closley when they are on and you will probly see that the contact point stays folded in the same direction going up and down where they should fold when changind directions....I bent my arm a little bit to put a little more pressure on the blades and it stoped the chattering

so i should try fliping the refills? or make the blade face down... would new refils fix it completley? is it possible for the ARMS to be on backwards? i dont think they can. i know its not the springs, there brand new arms..

Agree with getting new wiper blades.

Windshield probably is not clean though and causing friction which makes the blades jump. I found the best way to clean outside glass is to get 0000 very fine steel wool and amonia cleaner (windex with vinager also). Spray down windshield good and wet and with small pressure use steel wool in circular motions. Do not scrub hard at all and make sure you are using the very fine steel wool only so you dont scratch the glass. Just use light pressure. Only do glass, not mirrors as they are not glass. Rinse off with water. Apply Rain-X if you wish.

You will notice a huge difference after this type of cleaning which shouldnt be needed more than twice a year. This will help the wiper blades from bouncing across the windshield and of course make it way easier to see while raining. Wont need to have those wipers on HI when it does rain moderate.
