winter belt?

I do that... only because I dont have a smog pump or A/C compressor left on my car

Unless you bi-pass the PS system your not realy doing much, the A/C realy is only a drag with the system is on and at WOT the A/C is turned off by the ecu.

the smog pump is maybe a little bit of power but the PS is the biggie.

I think its a waste of how ever much you have to pay for the belt. the a/c compressor acts only as an idler pulley when it is turned off anyway so no horsepower will be robbed by it

i have always heard and read that the fewer accessories you are pushing, the more power you make. i also have a humming noise at low load that i suspect is the idler pulley. i was thinking that i could bypass it (and the a/c) for a few months and that would tell me if it is the pulley and buy me some time to replace it.

how much does a belt cost?

if the a/c doesn't add any drag when it isn't in use, why do people delete it, for the weight savings?

btw, winters in dc are usually pretty mild and it is pretty dry.

the belt was just under $20 from discount autoparts that I used to bypass the AC and smog

I really don't see any point in deleting the idler and the AC.
Looks like a waste of a belt to me too.
