Wipers died on me

So I'm driving down the freeway to work in the rain today and my wipers started to go reallllllllly slow. They were barely making it across the windshield then they started moving about an inch at a time and then they just died all together. Before I go out and buy stuff, do you guys believe the windshield wiper motor is to blame?

I'd check your switch contacts and the fuse (fuse#2, 6-amp I believe). If both those appear to be in working order, then the only thing left is the motor itself.

Thats exactly what happened to me last year - on a 200 mile trip in sleat and rain... Not fun

Turned out it was the wiper motor - got a replacement from 5.0 Resto and problem solved

The way you described it going bad I would bet it's the motor. I would put power straight to the motor. if it doesn't move it's bad.

Usually I just flick the switch on low real quick to get a single wipe for clearing dew etc. Well, the last time I did this, when I turn the switch back to off, the wipers stop moving and dont return to bottom. I had to keep turning it on and off to time the blades to stop at bottom. What is causing this?

Back in the late 80's GM cars had the same problem. We sold a lot of park switches. It was a switch in the wiper motor that parked the wipers. My guess would be you need a motor, because the parking part of the motor is bad.

I'm a friggin dumbass I swear. Turns out it wasn't the wiper motor after all. Well, it was.. but only because I forgot I unplugged the one connector in front to give me clearance for removing the ground strap bolt on the block. I'm so caught up in the **** I do .. it's ridiculous. Thanks for the motro tip. It got me to look.. lol

Fox wiper motors are notoriously unreliable. I think that there was even a recall on them back in The Day.

Had mine go on the way to a job interview out of college in a rain storm. The company got pissed and told me not to bother rescheduling. Too bad for them I ended up working for my current company making 3 times more money. The problem was my motor.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to go ahead and replace the motor as I'm almost positive that's the problem. I'll keep you guys posted on the results
