Wire Hiding and Radiator

Okay you wire hiding gurus. I went for it. Almost done, but I had to stop and think a little.

What are the chances of the Radiator getting hot enough to melt through split loom? I don't see it happening, but I would rather be safe by asking than sorry by not........Any info would be great.

Pics when project is complete.......
 
Shane, I am not able to help, but do have a question. Have you moved the wire harness under the front radiator header (the condensor sits below this deal; the overflow bottle is bolted to it as well)? I would have moved that harness so I could recess the new radiator better, but I did not want to open that can of worms.

Oh yeah, I do believe I have melted cheapo loom on the radiator before (cheap convoluted stuff). Can you get kevlar sheathing (like are used for plug wires)? That might hold up a little better.
 
I actually do have the kevlar sheeting. Not cheap though. I was using it to run new larger power cable from the alternator to a circuit brkr, then to a fusable link close to the relocated battery. Using 2gauge for the whole run. Plan on upgrading to the 200amp 3g unit in the near future.

The only problem with the kevlar stuff is it won't fit over plugs(connectors).
I really don't want to do anymore cut and solder jobs under there. Already had to extend the pass head light. I will probably just reroute to be safe. Wish I would have thought about it earlier. Should only set me back a half hour or so........

Not really sure what your speaking of here....Maybe if I was looking at the car. Is it the CCRM harness? I pulled the main harness completly out of the car. Distribution center and all. I actually put the dist. center in the driver fender. If I blow a fuse that will suck, but those are the brakes. The car will never see rain on the road, so I am not worried about water. Now I just need to get some under hood body work done to cover the wholes, and get everything shiny like the rest of the car..........

As for the jack, you are always welcome here. Thanks for the heads up on the melted loom. I will just move it for ease of mind. I don't like to worry about things I know I can fix the first time around........
 
Not that it really matters, but with what I was asking about. :) :

There is a large harness which runs along the front support in front of the radiator. The harness is just underneath the top radiator header (it is kinda between the condensor and radiator, right at their tops). I think there is a couple of connectors for the ABS pump which egress from the harness on the pass side (if that helps). That harness is keeping me from seating my radiator as far forward as I would like.

Like, the harness is keeping me from being able fit the top of the radiator flush against the header (What I call the header is what he has the top of the radiator zip tied to): Link

It sounds like you are doing a really nice job with the wiring moving/hiding. :nice: I look forward to completed pics. :)

And yeah, I did not think about having to get kevlar sheathing over connectors. :bang: You will hate to hear it (and it is not something that you would want to do), but I have used rubber line as a sheath (slice the line down the side so it slips over the harness like convulated sheathing does). Not that you would want to do that, but in places that are out of sight.... (even then you would not do it). LOL :)

And yeah, having the dist box in the fender should be no biggie with the way you baby that car (weather and otherwise). Chat later. :hail2:

I know the harness in which you speak now. I did move it. I will have to take pic. It is kinda odd how I routed it, and it may not work with a Fluidyne. Then again, it might. As for my melting convern, I feel dumb now. The wiring was not even touching the Rad, just the lower supports..... I just have it all about finished. Still kinda concerned about the fuse box in the fender, but what can you do. I guess we will see what happens.
