In case of fire or smoke, call the fire department...

Click on the drawing to enlarge it.

Fuse links come with a current rating just like fuses. A clue as to what current they are designed for is to look at the size wire they protect.

Did the ground wire that connects to the car body near the windshield washer filler show evidence of hear damage? If so, replace the battery ground cable.
The battery common ground is a 10 gauge pigtail with the computer ground
attached to it.

If you have to replace the battery ground cable be sure you get one as shown below.
Correct negative battery ground cable.

If not, it probably is a fuse link. Did you see the diagram I posted with all the pretty colors? That is your instruction guide.

Unwrap tape from the wire bundle coming off the starter solenoid and look carefully at the fuse links. Replace the damaged link with one of the same length, diameter & color. Fuse link wire is available at your local auto parts store. Solder the replacement fuse link in place and cover the solder joints with heat shrink tubing.

How to use heat shrink - just be sure to do a good job soldering the wires BEFORE you use the heat shrink tubing
