Wires to Starter Solenoid?

Well guys , this isn't a question pertaining to my mustang but my F-100 that i put a 5.0 out of a 91 lx into. I'm needing to know what all is wired to the starter solenoid pos-neg and to the top post i'm getting all confused looking at the harness, and all the wires i'm haveing to make or adapt, so any help would be appreciated!:hail2:

ok this is kinda generic statement from my memory here but, i believe most stuff with an eyelet goes to the positive battery side, just the one cable to the starter goes on the other side, and the top posts.....well usually theres those little 90 degree angled plugs that go on top of those although i cant recall which one goes where.....the color of the wires veries from year to year in sure....
edit......on mine red wire blue strip with angled plug goes on post, black wire to starter on the negative big post, red ( battery cable) and a yellow wire to the positive post.....mine also has a little relay thing bolted to this positive post as well....and to that goes a red wire white stripe on the bottom lug, and a blue wire on the top lug.if that makes any sense. this would be if your using a 5.0 selenoid, the fender well one

i'm using the fenderwell solenoid from the mustang, i'm also having trouble figuring out which wires got to what on my ignition switch its a universal with a post that says bat. another that says ignition, and another that says acc. and a post in the middle , i'm not sure what runs to these, cause i'm converting this truck to efi as well!

well, the accesary would i believe go to positive battery side, because when the key is switched to that you need it to 12 volts, the iginition i believe goes to one of the posts that an ignition wire goes too, so when you switch it on it allows current from that wire to power the ignition wire, which leads to the batt one, which would also go to the positive side where the battery cable is.....
ok i think thats how it would go, but thats not carved in stone so hopefully someone else will reply to confirm or deny this.....don't fry your wiring on my account see if someone else says something.....

Alright guys, let me try to explain my problem. i'm converting my F-100 to fuel injection, so i have a {12 volt run only wire that has to run to the ignition switch} and also a {12 volt crank and run wire that has to run to the ignition switch} is there anyone on here that knows where these would go on a universal ignition switch, as well as what the ninety degree connector on the starter solenoid goes to, is this what triggers the solenoid to power the starter:shrug: cause something has to make the relay to switch right? And like i said i have the following on my universal ignition switch {ACC} {Batt} {IGN}
{and a central one as well, WTF goes to it } :bang: I just cant figure out what makes all this work. I need some help from an experienced person in doing this so please help!:(

The universal switch should have a diagram or instructions as to which terminal(s) are for ignition, which is accessory and which is crank. You might have to use your meter to check continuity absent instructions.

The thin guage 90* bend wire on a stang solenoid is the solenoid control trigger. It receives 12 volts from the crank wire at the ignition switch (that wire is white/pink on a stang, IIRC).

Good luck.

thanks, the switch didn't come with any instructions prolly cause i bought it from autozone:rolleyes: so i'm guessing that the 90 degree connector would go to the ignition part of the switch . and so would the crank and run wire from the EFI haness. but does any one have a clue about the rest

No, the 90* bend wire on the solenoid is the crank wire. It goes to the crank terminal on the universal switch. If you look at your schematic for your car, you can look at the ignition switch and see what wire colors go to accessory, run, and crank. Mimic that with your universal switch.

well what i meant was i have a crank and run wire that goes to my efi that i put in the truck, that is seperate from the one that goes to the solenoid
I gotcha. Some TFI's have a crank (start) input wire. Not sure if that is what yours is for, but it could be.

Good luck.
