Wiring gremlins or does this sound familiar?

Car info '67 289, upgrades/new equipment- 100amp alt. new electronic regulator, halogen headlights on relays, driving lights on separate relays, cheap panasonic CD player....

Been chasing a nagging problem with my headlights flickering, and CD player losing power every now and again. Seems to happen when manually shifting the C4 from D to 2 or 1 then hitting the brakes, happens sometimes when cornering or hitting large bumps. I've ran switched and constant power for the CD player directly to starter solenoid (with fuses of course). Checked all grounds I know to check. Car starts and runs fine, runs fine when lights flicker or completely cut out and when CD player loses power...

Any one have a similar experience? I'm guessing it might be a stripped wire somewhere shorting out, but have no clue where to start looking... Any ideas, please??? Thanks in advance oh wise purveyors of the grand and powerful Mustang. :hail2:

Thanks guys. I'm assuming I'd want to use battery cable guage wiring for these grounds, yes?

dont need to go that big. on my old F250 that had a similar problem i used 10 gauge wire, so you dont need to go larger than that. remember that the load return isnt that high on the items you are having a problem with.
