wiring harness question

the wiring harness in my 84 is in really bad shape some wires have burnt so now the car cant get enough spark to start i know a guy who has a wiring harness out of a 87-93 5.0 i was going to use the wires to splice into the wiring harness on the 84 where they are damaged would this work? and also my car keeps burning up starter solenoids what could cause that?

Not a good choice unless you are very good with diagrams and have a pile of them.

Some of what you need is in the Autozone diagrams, but there is a lot more that isn't in there.
