Wiring up 2g alternator questions

If all goes well i am wanting to put EFI on my car after x-mas i have everything i need except the alternator wiring. I dont have a pigtail or anything for it, does anyone know the part # or where i can get one of these? Also how hard is it to hook up one? I will eventually convert to 3g but i dont have the $$$ right now, and any diagrams other than the autozone ones would be awsome also, any help is appreaciated.

I have an externally regulated one, and i was told by a few people, that it causes unwanted feedback throughout the electrical system in EFI cars. I would like to have the proper one in the car for the EFI. It is a built 100 AMP alternator Fyi

Ok... wiring it up is pretty simple and straight forward.

Use the connector located here:

Read what's on that page. The only difference between what's there and your application is that 2Gs are internally regulated and you will not need to use the white stator wire from the plug. Do not cut if off though. You'll need it when you convert to a 3G.

Edit: You'll need one of these as well. The 2G doesn't have posts on the back.

The two large ends of this plug will go to the unswitched side of your fender mounted start solenoid. The third white wire will not be used.

so both of those wires goes to the battery side of the solenoid? Do you think autozone or o reilly's i really dont like ordering online unless i have to. And i need both of these for the alternator or do i just need the second one? Thanks daggar

You need both of those connectors for the 2G. One is the regulator plug and the other is the power supply plug. Both wires on the power supply plug are power wires. Just wire it up like you would a 3G alt. You're going to need either 2 strands of 10G wire or you can wire both connector wires to a single 6G or larger. Whatever floats yer boat. If you're going to eventually switch to 3G alt anyway, then go ahead and install a large 4G wire from the alt to the terminal post.

I'm not sure if Autozone will have those parts or not, I've pretty much given up on the parts stores with the exception of the most basic stuff. If a parts store doews have them then they're likely to have only the plug and you'll have to install wires and terminals yourself. I doubt that they will have the pigtail.

Thanks daggar i will call the parts stores tomorrow but i dont like to order online because if it is the wrong part the returning and downtime sucks. Thanks for the help, now what to do with this 100 amp alternator i have now....
