Thought you might like to see the Daytona winner sitting in the parking lot at the local park in "street trim". Talk about a sleeper.

Happy Motoring.

Looks like your bumper fell off Historic

Nice all the same.

What's with bias plys? Aren't they what were standard in the 60s? Do you run them by choice or is it part of the rules of your racing?

Have tried radials both on track and on street and the bias plys (Hoosier Street TD) work best because of the stiff side wall. Radials compound the problem of these things not wanting to turn because of the side flex and the tire actually rolls over making the "push", "understeer" or "washout" worse.

The bias ply can also be tuned by air pressure. Negative part is the tire wear is less with the bias ply and they do cost more.

One of the main reasons you hear so much about negative wedge kits is that you are trying to fix a problem that is created in part by using radial tires. Go figure that one out! Radials were very few when these cars were designed, they were set up to use bias ply's.

The car looks great, and congrats on the win!

I notice that you don't have a rear spoiler, and IIRC you don't have one in the front either? Were you running the big oval at Daytona with this configuration? Seems like a very high speed track to run without spoilers. Would you please explain some of your theories regarding air management?

Less tyre wear is a bad thing?

Hack, I just try to keep the vintage look. In Historic racing they require that you keep the car period correct. Neither front or rear spoilers were used on these things in 1965. Also, you could eliminate the bumpers.

In the NASA American Iron series you can run the spoilers but I decided not too for the above vintage look reasons.

The car runs 145 at Daytona but never really feels uncomfortable except in turn four when you go over the hump for the tunnel under the track. At that point the car moves 5 or 6 feet up the track.

Thanks to all.

Route666, good catch. Of course the Hoosiers wear more, not less.

Haha far out, I thought you were blasting me, but I read again and you were actually correcting yourself. I did think you might have meant you get less miles with them - more wear on them. Something like that, I don't know much about tyres save for lower profiles giving more crisp steering response, wider tyres increasing the chance of aqua-planing, etc.

I haven't heard much about your car what's done to the motor? Your suspension in stock with shelby drop right? Any other notable stuff to tell?

666, I am going to find time to put up the motor stuff. You will be amazed!

The short block is stock Ford stuff and anyone can build the set up with a limited budget. The secret is the cam.

I will get it up just as soon as these 50 hour work weeks let up! Shift work is Hell..............
