Wondering About a Turbo/tranny swap

I found an 85 Merker for $600. The engine isnt the original, I think its out of a TC. Anyway, I know that will go in my car, but my question is about the tranny. What kind of trannies did those Merkers use? Could I use it in my 89 Mustang? Oh, and honestly, how hard would it be to do the swap? I am pretty good with cars too, so how long do you think it'll take?

The merkurs came with a weak T-9. I would recommend picking up a T-5 from a thunderbird.

Ok, but for the time being, is it possible to use the T-9? I will swap in a T5 later, but I just need the car streetable. Will the Merkur have everything I will need? Or will I need to pick up some other stuff?

I'm not sure, it might be too short. You'll have to do a search on that one. I just know that they are weaker than the T-5.

Alright, I'll see what i can find. Thanks.

But does anyone have a suggestions for a smooth sailing swap? I'm looking for a LA3 ecu, so cross that one off.
