Now onto my problem.. It has a vortech supercharger, vortech standard fuel management, bbk fuel pressure regulator, taylor wires, autcraft coil paks(assuming there stock),70lb-90lb injectors, optrinzer tuner for rich or lean ?,and an airtex fuel pump(replaced the pump since the car wouldn't fire when I got it,got at local parts store)... So I replaced the fuel pump as I stated, the psi on it is unknown, but I got the car to fire it ran ok,but was popping and banging through the exhuast, and smelt like it was running rich, couldn't get outta 1st gear just wanted to fall on its face and had no power whats so ever, grant it the fuel pressure was at 9lb,so i upped it to 40 figuring it'd be fine with the high lb injectors in it.,thats also what a local mustang shop told me it should be running at...Then I drove it got into 3rd gear this time and couldnt go any higher, fall on its face like it was loosing fuel,so I brought it back to my shop parked, later that day a buddy of mine I told him all whats in the car and so on and said I should be able to run atleast 60psi,so I went out fired the car(was only gonna bump it to 45psi) up had him look at the gauge I cracked the jam nut, turned the set screw not even a 1/4 of a turn the car shut off,now it won't fire, and not reading nothing on my gauge....PLEASE ANY HELP WOULD WORK. I can't figure this thing out and wanna drive it....

The tune is based upon the delta fuel pressure. Altering the fuel pressure alters the tune. Normally for a return system, fuel pressure is set at 40 PSI with the intake reference line disconnected. It's normal for the pressure to drop once the reference line is reconnected.

The reference line is vital as that is how the fuel pressure will go UP in response to boost. Without the reference line, the motor will go lean under boost.

However, it doesn't make sense that the fuel pressure is 9 PSI and it's running rich. Fuel pressure that low should be very LEAN.

I know. When I pulled the feul pressure regulator off to pull it apart and check it out(bbks are rebuildable) there was very little fuel that came out of it... Also when I was gunna up the pressure it went to zero fp and now I have nothing????

It sounds like it wants to start but then doesn't.. Like I can crank the heck outta it,it'll hit one spot rev up to 2000 rpms then just shut completely off and spit and sputter and crap..... I'm almost about to give up on it... How many psi fuel pump should I need for it being supercharged? Like I said the airtex (dunno if its a stock replacement or not,but the one I pulled out of the tank was stock) didn't give me psi specs on it?

Grasshopper.....seek the help of professionals.

Based upon your questions, a fundamental understanding of boost and intake referenced fuel pressure is lacking. I'm afraid that you will hurt the motor because you do not understand how to set the fuel pressure and how the intake vacuum reference works to index fuel pressure.

Arbitrarily setting the fuel pressure to an higher value becuase of supercharging is a recipe for disappointment.

Further, those out here in Internet land can not help if you will not answer our questions.

No information = no help.

Good luck to you.

The IFS switch in the trunk is brand new and pushed down? Haven't checked any of the fuses...But why would it act like it wants to start then fire up for a quick second then nothing again? I'm new to these supercharged motors and the 4.6. I've always had n/a 5.0s with no power adders..Should I try getting a aftermarket pump for it?
