I use to use them when I did dead lifts. Dont do them anymore. Now just for barbell shrugs.
Why no more deadlifts? They're the next best thing to squats

99.99% of the time I see somebody using them its for some B/S like pullups or dumbell shrugs. Seriously, ditch the straps and get some man hands and freaky forearms...

Gee guess the 20yrs of training in both powerlifting and bodybuilding have been a complete waste due to excessive strap use..![]()

A few years back I got a herniated disc in my lower back and stopped them so my back could heel. Just never got into them again. With good form it wont be a problem. Im currently starting a new routine so maybe I will squeeze them in once in a while.
since when are straps allowed at a powerlifting meet

Hopefully sometime soon they'll have artificial disks to replace damaged ones, my G/F has the same thing, sucks ass
what the hell are these straps you guys are talking about?![]()
Sorry should have specified..not compeditive it's my hobby/passion, I've not felt the need to compete though I have assisted in the training of several who have. If you truely consider using a set of straps candyass...then son you need to learn to train heavy.![]()
....I sense you've got it all figured out...must be great!!! all this time and I'm still learning something new all the time...but that's just me. Though I can't promise 20 inch bicepts I bet it's not too much of a reach for us to get you to your desired 10 inch forearm quest
but hey we can't all be genetically gifted....just kidding, just kidding.
Viking, for all you know DMan can have genetically big forearms. I've got a friend whose forearms are almost as big as his upper arm and he barely lifts.![]()
genetics were pretty average but I've done the best I could with what me ma and pa gave me...all you can do really.
Damn him and his cuteness!!!!!Oh that was moderately funny....I sense you've got it all figured out...must be great!!! all this time and I'm still learning something new all the time...but that's just me. Note to self...straps will lead to my demise as a weight lifter.
Why resort one's self to having weak hands? I don't get it. If I can't deadlift 500lbs because the bar is slipping out of my hands (as it used to) then obviously I need to improve my grip strength. It's that simple. If you can't lift the weight, then you can't lift it. When you use straps, they are doing some the work, not just you. So are you really lifting that weight, or just some of it?
by science.
