So I Am having some promblems with my car and I can not figure it out.
Long story short, 3 weeks ago driving down lewvan car started backfiring bad and died, I wasn't even into the throttle. I pulled over and tried starting it and the only thing it would do is backfire and not even kick like it wanted to start.
I had the car towed to my garage and have since put in a brand new MSD distributor, check and cleaned every electrical connection, and done a compression test that showed 205 psi on every cylinder, there wasn't even a 5% variance.
Absolutly no chage in what happens when I try to start the car, other than now it slightly kicks like it wants to go but alot of backfiring with it. I know that it is deffinitly something to do with the timing, but since everything mechanical checks out perfect and all electronics regarding the ignition are brand new also brand new plug wires and plugs, I am leaning towards an actual ECU problem. I have quadruple checked the placement of the distributor and it is dead on.
Do any of you guys have any suggestions of what else to check.
I am going to find another ECU and try that, but that may take a few days.
Appreciate any input anyone has.
Thanks,
Big John
