Would ported Trickflow TW heads be a good for my combo?

Vib is selling his Trickflow Twisted wedge heads for a OK price and he is local to me. He hasnt given me the full specs yet but I know the are Ported with some bowel work by HBR(stage 1) and he told my freind they flow much better then AFR 185s. I will be replacing a headgasket(hopefully its just a headgasket) soon and figured it would be a good time to upgrade even though I am broke. Im scared that with heads that flow this good I will loose all my low end. I have stock shortblock, custom cam(if I get these heads), cobra intake and full exhaust with longtubes and the Vortech @ 10-11 PSI. No plans for a 347 anytime soon. Are these heads too big? My next mod after this(if I do indeed do this) would be a swap to turbo and then upgrading my drivetrain. I understand my cobra intake will probably be holding me back quite a bit as well. What do you think? Too big of a head? Oh car is a daily driver too.

My number 8 cyl has very little compression. I am hopeing it is just a headgasket and not something expensive like a ring or a piston. Im going to be taking the heads off anyways so I figured might as well upgrade. He wants 1100 for the heads/pushrods/rockers(1.6). Think thats ok? Im gonna need new bolts/headgaskets anyways. What else would I need, timing chain($60??) to swap heads & cam?

Those heads are nowhere too big, especially if it's only a "Stage one" port job, which most likely means there were few cc's added to the ports. The biggest problem is going to be getting ball-park flow numbers and port volumes so the cam guy can come up with IVO and EVC events. The second biggest problem is going to be the Cobra manifold. I'd really consider ditching it for a Holley or Performer RPM - you'll need it.

The third biggest problem you'll have is splitting the block. :D

You may need new lifters, you may not. You will need a new timing chain and new head bolts (if you are still using OE Ford replacements). Then, depending what kind of VC gaskets you have, you may need to replace them as well as a new front cover gasket set.

At 10 pounds of boost and the right cam, manifold, and those heads, you'll make an EASY 500 RWHP. I'd put a bet on it.

An OTS cam that needs to keep low-speed torque is going to be hard to find with hogged out heads. The key to keeping your low-speed torque is airspeed and velocity. I'd guess that you need something that opens the valve right after TDC and closes the exhaust early. Kinda tough...

Plus, for the price of a Comp cam, you could get one of Eddy C's cams. Only ~75 bucks more. Plus, when you buy one thing from Ed, you get help forever.

yes you will need new lifters cause they have developed a wear pattern from the current cam that is in the car. therfor if you do not get new lifters they will not make full or correct contact cause of the wear pattern. Timing chain and water pump are wise at this time depending on mileage (low miles you may not worry about the water pump). If i were you call ed or jay about a cam although for your selection i wouldnt rule out a trickflow cam if you get those heads. Ill be getting tw's in the future and i already have my tfs stage 1 cam waiting cause i got a really good deal on it.

What's wrong with the stock cam? Cheap, Works well with Vortech blowers, Good low end power. What more could you want?

Also, because these motors have hyd. roller cams you won't NEED new lifters but you should look them over and make sure they are all in good shape.
