k...well i have all that i have in my sig. its nothing tooooooo special but she likes to pull really hard. well i went up against my buddies 01 cobra vert. all he has done at all is an o/r xpipe. well we went up today after a night at the bar (we were both ok...just chillin). well up to about 60 mph he had me by about 2 cars. now that was with me doing almost perfect shifting. i had no spin from first and had a good 1/2 a car by the end of first (very very quick with the 4.10) then by the time i hit second he is even and he just keeps going because he is nearing the end of his 1st gear and he is in his powerband. he creeped on me constantly from there. i gave up at around 60mph and im sure he woulda gone further.

now my car doesnt feel "slow" for that matter of the cars ive been in but his car is basically stock. i just got my twEECer in the mail so hopefully ill fine tune my car a lil better but really....i expect my car to be a near 13.8ish car. now he isnt the best shifter in the world cause he is fairly new to manual so his car stock runs like a 13.6ish. i expect him to run a 13.8ish cause of that. where am i missing something. is my car slower than i think or is he much better than i thought. just didnt seem to add up and i hated him raggin on me even tho i told him i knew he would beat me. it was just kinda sick.

Those things are quick dude. I raced one from a 70ish rolland he kept up pretty well.

Dont feel too bad though. Think of it as a reason to go even further with your mods.

meh...i mean, he lets me drive it all the time and i know it pulls hard and all but he has driven mine and said mine feels sweet. thats just kinda weird. im pretty close to the end of my mods unless i go some massive heads or finally try to go some s/c or turbo but thats a good long way in the future....he thinks my car is as quick as his and i feel his car isnt that much quicker than mine but he just whomped on me hardcore tonight. i wanna hit the track after my car is tuned right and see what the numbers say. maybe my car is only a 14 second car

Well, you have to remember, you are racing a car that has a really wide powerband. They don't need to shift until 6800 rpm's. That means they take advantage of gearing much more than you do.

If you had some aluminium heads & port matched intake, you would have done better.

Remember, 99/01 cobra's put down 280 to the wheels stock. Add midpipe & cat-back, and you are at 315 to the wheels. Very sick cars (great heads).

You can't really expect to beat him with stock heads even if they are ported.Like it was said, those heads on the Cobras flow some serious air. Wait til you get some aluminums...

Also never say you are at the end of your mods. It brings a tear to my eye.

Yeah, I was actually thinking that as I typed. But your car doesnt count Snoozer. Not unless you tell everyone your secret.

Wow, 315 is a lot for so little mods. Those four cams are damn efficient. Do you think he will walk you with the 4.30s?

Get to a track and find out the truth! Your car feels faster or as fast, because of your cars torque (which is probably close to or more than your friends car).

Yeah that torque makes up for a lotta horsepower we don't have. I say take it to the track where it actually counts.

I will ne waaay out of his range by the time that goes in.

With similar mods to yours my car ran 14.3 at 97.2mph with a 2.08 60' on street tires. Adding nitto DR's and a homemade CAI brought me to 13.83 at 98.55mph with a 1.91 60'. So... if I had to guess your car is only a mid to low 14 second car now, and his IS a low 14 to high 13 second car ON STREET TIRES. Take it to the track and see where you stand now, and then that will give you a better idea of what you need to do from here as in tuning, new parts, etc
