nothing to do with what he posted on there but I'll be going with one of his cams when the time comes.

Maybe now people will not hate iron heads as much I personally knew someone who went high 12's with basically that same combo (except the cam)

Guys like Jay, Ed, Buddy, etc have knowledge and access to things that peeps like me don't.

You see it all the time in the class of racing where they run stock every thing. If you got all the parts in your combo matched up for the best possible resusts .............. that is just what you will get. Those guys that run in that stock class of racing spend tons of money to make that happen which I'm sure most of you guys already know.

Why do you think those gurus like Jay & Ed can time after time put together a combo that puts up the good numbers?

The simple answer is their knowledge.

I ain't got it and I really don't care to spend the years and years they did to get it, lol. Those guys will give it to you, (well some of it but not all of it, lol) for a price.

When I was a kid I had a little Falcon that had so many different cams in it that I finally lost count, lol.

My experience from the past and positive, proven dyno results from combos put together buy those gurus made me know that I was just gonna save the frustration and pay them for their knowledge when I got back into this hobby.

I got way more better results than I had hoped for with Ed's help.

One last time ...... those gurus know way more than me and most of the other guys you see on these forums so when you try to compare the results it is just not an apples to apples comparison.

Agreed. But Jays combo he is running isnt necessarily what i would call matched, he says so in the thread. Its crazy how fast you can go with stock like parts...now imagine what he or any other guru will do with high quality aftermarket parts.

You are missing nothing at all Danny cause ...... you just got done typing it up for us all to see.

Again, its all about their Knowledge they've gained over the years of experience about what works and ............. what doesn't, lol.

Those guys ability in knowing how to arrange all of those little bumps on that stick is something, at least IMHO, that is beyond most peeps understanding or .......... they just don't take the time to think about.

Heres a couple of examples that quickly come to mind.

1) The amount of importance in how the combo is gonna perform .........

All you gotta do is compare the dyno pulls from those guys combos to a typical oem iron Ford head/ots cam combo that lots of peeps put together on a shoe string budget.

I'm in no way putting down that "typical combo" above so don't anybody even think along those lines ............ OK.

All anybody has to do is go to my site and they will see ...... I have the experience of working with the shoe string combo myself. Anyway ..........

Just using that combo as an example or a way to show ............. there is a difference ............. if you get the idea I'm trying to get across in this discussion.

2) The knowledge those guys have should be thought of in this mindset if one is gonna take advantage of it.

Money spent for an item (their knowledge) that is gonna make the combo perform as expected or in this case ........ maybe better than expected.

The money spent for their kowledge is no different IMHO than the money I spent for my headers, tb, Tweecer, or any other go fast part.

I did the research on the benefits of that investmemt and quickly saw I wanted to have the same results an others who had gone that route before me and I got MORE than I espected.

IMHO .............. Money well spent

I too am humbled by those those kinds of guys.

I just took the easy way out with my combo.

In no way do I claim to know about all that stuff other than the general ...... all around knowledge we all have about things like that.

Don't discount that Mr. Allen can no doubt drive like a sumbitch... best mod out there. Very very impressive. Did he say anything about accessories? Lightweight internals? There are tons of little tricks that add up big time in the long wrong.

Im not sure on accessories but its a stock shortblock. I dont think accessories would give a HUGE difference, but probably some of it if they are removed.

He just mentions it's a stock ford short block with "stone stock gt40" heads and his cam. Exhaust is fairly tipical(sp?).
