guys! Is there a wrong way to install a fuel pump eccentric on a 5.0? I've basically gone through everything that might make me not get fuel into the pump, and I've come out with nothing. So, basically What I did was put a 90 motor on an 82 mustang, except for the eccentric, timing chain cover, distributor, front accessories and intake, and manifolds, everything is from the 90 motor. What I did was just put the eccentric on the way it was sitting on the old motor off the car, nothing more, nothing less. I am just SOOO totally clueless to what is going on, there is not a drop of fuel on the outlet side of the pump, and if I pour gas and/or starting fluid into the carb, it'd try to run.. any help guys.. please! Thanks!

I didn't know there was a wrong to install the eccentric? There are two parts to it, the outer ring just sits around the center part. The assembly goes over the cam sprocket, I put the tab in the space there was left in the sprocket pin hole. Maybe the older cam sprocket has a hole specific to the eccentric tab, I didn't have an old engine to look at at the time.

Did you check to see if the eccentric was tight and not moving by itself? What you could do is turn the engine by hand while holding the fuel pump in position to see if you can feel the eccentric pushing onto the lever.

Maybe it's just the fuel pump? Did you check to see if the fuel line is working fine? Gas in the tank? Converting to electric is pretty easy if you get real fed up...

yeah checked all those already, fuel, lines for blockage, a new pump as well. Well, I just might have to convert to a electric pump if I cant figure this one out.

Depends on which eccentric you have and need. If the cam dowel sticks to far out, you need the earlier style with the round hole. With the engine cranking you should be able to put your finger over the inlet and feel suction.
You did hook up the lines to th right sides.. right?

Oh yeah, what car is this? Doesnt have an in-tank pump too, I hope..

*yup, before I replaced the pump, the old one didnt even get disconnected from the lines when I installed the motor, and it's quite obvious where they go.

*Its an 82 5.0 mustang, and no it doesnt
