Here goes...I was getting ready to install my new mechanical oil pressure gauge and started by taking off the stock sender so I could get all my fittings matched up...Well my buddy was looking for an accessory wire and somehow started the damn car and oil began spewing out of where the stock sender was...As soon as I realized what happened I immediatly ran over and shut the car off but not before it spewed almost all the oil if not all of it out...It was only running for at most 30 seconds...I hooked everything up put 3 quarts of fresh mobile 1 syn. in it and no noises, ticking or knocking and the dipstick says its full now so Im hoping I dodged a bullet here and didn't screw up my motor...Its a fresh motor with less than 10K on it...I should be good right??? :nonono:

Here's a recommendation to prevent a repeat if the oil pressure line to the gauge ever breaks...

You should be fine. I had a car that leaked out all of the oil(OP sending unit was dead, long story), I heard an engine tick, thought it was the car next to me. I pulled off the freeway to a parts store. Filled it up, drove it back home, leaked it all out again. Changed sending unit, filled it again & drove it for another 30K miles before I sold it, no problems. (It's OK, NOT the stang but the DD):D

As an aside, I don't know what you use for a dipstick but note that some dipsticks are mismarked from the factory. If you have doubts, at some point do a full drain and filter change, start it, let it sit and note the full position. If not in agreement with the stock notation, scribe a new mark.

After a full drain including filter....what should bring it to Full after letting it run and sit...5 qts?

To replenish a full drain (both plugs and FL1A filter renewal), 5 quarts is the capacity.

For those with a dipstick that's off, the new Full level is normally above the OEM level.

i was wondering about that because i did a full drain with new filter and it was reading full with 4 quarts....so it should take a full 5 quarts? I've heard it is just as bad to overfill an engine as it is to under fill it?
