i am the owner of a 96 mustang gt. the mods include a mac exhaust 3.73 gears a,d lakewood traction action lift bars..and a complete pi headswap drom and 03 gt.
my question is why am i stillgetting beat by 04 gts. arent they supposed to be the same as all the other pi cars. my car doesnt have a k&n..but niether does the car i race. we even swap drivers and that car still wins. what could be worng with my car??? or is the headswap just overrated

i have the pi heads cams and intake. and the cars spin about the same. maybe a me a little more. but i figured the gears would help with that as far as catching back up to him.there is about a 3 car difference in the cars. he only gets me about a half car out of the hole from me spinning.

there is somthing wrong with your car, if a headswap gears and exaust cant take care of busness then something is wrong. do a compression check, check your injectors, change your plugs and fuel filter, and get it tuned. let use know if that works.

i just changed the plugs and wires and have some new injectors from an 02 gt i am going to put in today. i will see if that works. it feels likeit picked up power though, b/c i took out the fram and put a friends k&n onn for alittle while and the thing really came alive. just that air filter had it breaking third gears loose really bad.

Dude your cars screwed up or something. I have a 98gt w/ only exhaust k&n and nittos and im right there w/ or beating stock pi gt's. My newest time in the 1/8 is 9.027. And there isnt many 99+ gts that run that! Have you had the car tuned. dynoed or anything? how about track times?

just because it's old doesnt mean it's in bad shape. mine runs great. i'll be confident my car would be great with she gets headswapped next month with 108K+ miles. great running car if taken care of:nice:

i only paid for the parts and about 400 dollars labor. the rins were about 125 for the set and the bearings were $6 per rod and the main cap set was $50 bucks. i also had to buy new rod and main cap bolts..they are torque to yield i think but the whole thing was roughly $650. i also put in forged rods and pistons, but i had those from a friend gt that was totalled

The forged rods and pistons are probablly your problem. Are they lower compression pistons? Make sure your friend didn't give you a set of low-compression pistons that are meant for boost.

i have about 10.5:1 right now. the pistons are similar to the ones i took out of the car. i dont knwo if the extra compression would make an aftermarket mid-pipe necassary. b/c everything else onmy car right now is stock except for the mufflers and gears. i even have a fram air filter.
