WTF wipers died at 70 mph in the rain?

Not sure what the hell happened but I was driving down the interstate today and got into some pretty heavy rain. Went to turn the wipers on and they were really slow and jerky. I mean really slow.

They were working fine a few minutes earlier and then bam they crapped out. Good thing I had Rain Xed the car earlier. Drove for like 45min in the rain with no wipers. Tried them later and they worked. Were a little slow but the worked.

Any ideas? bad motor?

Your wiper motor could be going out. Mine went out on the way home from buying my car. It got worse until they finally quit working.

That is what I figured it is. I have owned two foxbodies and both of them did this. Weird thing is the wipers started working again about 45 mins after they quit working.

Probably the WW motor. Just replace it. Easy job but there is a little clip that can be a pain to get back on right. The clip is under the cowl.

Mine quit working on me oneday, it turned out the wiper arms weren't connected under the cowl.

i think The Shape had issues kinda similar about 4 months ago - Jrichker had some real nice write ups on things to check (that i had not heard of - which does not mean much).

as dumb as it sounds, check your grounds and connections - moisture kills grounds.
