WTF...

Well I had finally gotten my AODE all fixed up where it wasn't leaking any fluid and I get a check engine light today.

I pulled the codes and got these:

628 - Excessive converter clutch slippage
657 - transmission oil temperature is excessive.

I am now not getting O/D. Anyone know what is a cheap possible fix. I am storing the car for the winter and putting a GForce T-5 and 347 Stroker in and I need to be able to drive this car until then because I have not purchased a beater yet. Any ideas?

My fluid dip stick is WORTHLESS. It says it's past full ALL THE TIME.... cold, hot, in gear, in park, doesn't matter. I thought I had mine full, went to drive up a steep hill and she ran dry on me. NOT GOOD. I put another quart in it, and it never overflowed. I'm still not 100% sure it wouldn't hold another quart.

Fill it half a quart before it overflows.

I'd be aware that trans fluid expands as it gets hotter. I wouldnt want to overfill the trans.

If this only happens when the trans/motor is hot, I would get a stacked plate cooler installed ASAP. It can help get more miles out of the trans.

To check the level (it's best to do hot), you know to run it through each gear and then check it, right? Just making sure.

Good luck.

Yup, and of course I clean the dipstick off as well. It ALWAYS has fluid on it, no matter what it seems. LOL I'm beginning to think my fill up tube holds a bubble that stays in there and coats the stupid thing when I put it back in.

I've never pulled those codes before though.

Question, did you put any friction modifier in the tranny and are you sure your filter isn't clogged and that it's actually circulating the fluid? You can unhook a line at the radiator and turn the car on for a second to see if it runs out. I would also smell the fluid. If it's been too hot, you'll know it.

Sorry Paul, I know you know that stuff - my post was for Doob (in case there was any doubt. I hate it when people tell me stuff I already know).

I think there's some splash up the dipstick tube that makes it hard to read.

I did put some in not long ago, I will check this out when I get home. Thanks for the heads up.

HISSIN50, yeah I know to run it through the gears first. Thanks though.
