Hey guys. A friend and I are installing a SLP X-pipe on his 2000 GT, right now. What do we do about that plate that the rear O2 sensor plugs connections sit on? The location of the O2 sensors on the new X-pipe directly hits that black plate (where the O2 sensors hook up to), that's mounted onto the tranny mount.

What do we do with that black plate? Do we unbolt it and it just slides out? Cut it? Bend it?

Help quickly, please!

Thanks!

I'm not sure if I can help you, on my my 03 the O2 sensors screwed into the xpipe exactly were they were on the stock h-pipe. I'd call SLP tomorrow and ask their advice.

Help quickly, please!

I have a 98, but have the same plate right where the H pipe meets.

I just wrapped them around the top bar. I have not had any problems yet.

That black bracket in your picture is the piece I wrote about. We ended up disconnecting the O2 connection points and relocated them elsewhere on that black piece. There were other mounting locations on it. Then, we bent the hell out of it to move it up and out of the way.

The reason why we were running into problems with it was because we were trying to mount the X-pipe as high as we could, for clearance issues. He has H&R Super Sports, so his car was already close to the ground. The cats on that SLP X-pipe have a few inches of ground-clearance, but not much. After everything was tightened, they had about an inch of body-clearance.

He now has the SLP X-pipe, with cats, and the SLP loudmouth cat-back. I have a Magnaflow cat-back and have been considering a new mid-pipe. I was thinking about purchasing the SLP, but I may end up going with the Magnaflow X-pipe. I'm not sure yet. Do any of you know if the Magnaflow cats are round shaped, like the SLP, or are the flatter?

edit: whoops! I guess if I looked closer at the picture, I just answered my question about the Magnaflow cats. Do you like that X-pipe?

Thanks!

It adds a whole new dimension to the exhaust note. It took me a week or so to get use to it, but I love it now. The car has a really pist off sound to it now. At WOT, forget about not drawing attention to your car because everyone will look at you and be like DDDDAAAAAAMMMMMMNNNNNNN!!!! I say go with the magnaflow man. Goto www.speedconcepts.net, they have the best price I cold find.

Good Luck :nice:

I swear my '00 doesn't have that black piece. I zippy tied mine. So ghetto. :nonono:
You can always fix it. I have to go back and tac weld or rivet a fabbed plate in to cover them sensors up.

Just remember, we can always fix what we do, redo what we did and keep fixing it til it's broke!!!

That bracket is a 98 only piece. Before 98 and from 99 up it doesn't exist. Ford did away with it in 99 so I say just ditch it and tie wrap the wires up off the exhaust. Just put a jack under the trans. Unbolt the cross member and transmount (4 easily accessible bolts). The lower the trans just enough to slide the bracket out from between the mount and the cross member then bolt it all back together.

Then if you ever want to return it to stock the bracket hasn't been damaged.
