x pipe or prochamber

im going to have to disagree with you rx7. most h, x pipes or a prochamber make relativley the same amount of power give or take a few hp or tq. thats why most are in it for the sound. i know with either pipe i pick it will make good power. there is always a debate on which pipe makes more power, proabably because they are so close. which leads people to pick for the sound they want.

I installed a prochamber in my car that had Mac headers, a stock H, and Flowmasters, and for the first few days, it was quiter. Then all of a sudden the thing screamed like a raped ape. I have had both the PC and an OR H, and I'd vouch for the PC any day. It makes it sound like a race car and a muscle car combined. I got mine on the trader for 100.00 used. I'd try that. As long as there is no rust, if you can get it cheaper, do it, and also, Ebay is your friend. Mine only had a tranny fluid stain, but it's under my car, so it's gonna get dirty anyway. Good luck.

funny you said that about getting louder? Off topic, but i have a Dynomax catback on my Cherokee, and it was super quiet, like quieter than stock when i put it on, now it's been about 4 months and it's really throaty and raspy now...not that i'm complaining cause it's about as cool as a 4.0 is gonna sound, but it's weird how it kinda broke in like that.

hehe I make a comment in a joking manner and ppl get a little touchy on it :p

you guys are funny

least have to say nobody was pissed :D

but yeah the debate will always be there and if I remember right peak gains are fairly close
gains through the powerband is a little different though

wish I still had some things I have seen where the x-pipe on the dyno vs the h-pipe while the peak was about the same in some spots on the x-pipe was making almost 15lbs/ft of torque difference

and this was on a fairly mild car

but to me if the gains aren't worth it and sound is what you are looking for I would go for some other mod
function over form

picking something for sound but not for power is like putting a sticker on your car for looks rather then performance
so that would be form over function
something that is considered rice

so shove that up your tail pipe :p

but I agree having something that sounds nice is something nice to have
know I wouldn't want to drive around with something that didn't sound that great (like my car right now with all the exhuast leaks and one of the muffllers on my car rusting out) so it's time to go with something different preferably a straight through design since it could help a bit and if nothing else would make the sound difference and want a little larger tip as well so can't hold to much against you

just more or less turning the rice card around on you guys :D

it's all cool though

whoever thinks all exhaust systems are within one or two horsepower of each other is incorrect.

Straight Through mufflers will make 5-7rwhp more on a stock car then chambered muffler (stock GT)

X pipe will make more power then Pro Chamber or H pipe......

I went over this before.....If you read the little blurb MAC writes about the H pipe, you will see they say its better then an X pipe and an H pipe...but then they go on to only give scientific reasons why it is better then the H pipe....

Whats really funny is their big reason is heat.....when an X pipe will retain more heat then the ProChamber...as it does not allow the air to expand as much...so from an X point of view ......you can really use there own scientific facts against them.

I just changed from an H pipe to an X pipe on my 65 this weekend...I could feel a difference...and if I could feel a difference....then I know something is up.....

It also made my car idle 300RPM higher then before when I added the X pipe on my 65, so there is proof its breathing much better.
