Hi:
I am brand new to mustang's (meaning I do not know much about them). I noticed people putting X pipes and H pipes on their v8 stang's...what is the difference between the two designs? Does one yeild more hp than the other?

Thanks

the best info i can give you is the h sounds more like the old muscle cars, where the x pipe sounds more like a foreign car raspy and not as much of a rumble i guess you could say. go to mustangexhaust.com and you can listen to just about every exhaust combo out there.

H pipe if you are going without cats, High flow X pipe if you need cats. Offroad Hpipe is the best sounding exhaust with two chamber flowmaster IMO. I will say when I switched from a high flow x pipe to an offroad h pipe I could feel a little less power with the H - but the sound is undeniably worth it! I just grew up hearing mustangs with h pipes, so it's hard to sway me to the other side. I will say my buddy has an o/r x pipe with like bassani or magnaflow mufflers(I don't remember) and it sounds terrible (not like a mustang should sound with no cats...)in my opinion - so if you do go X make sure you use 2 chamber flowmasters!

Try to listen to some in person, everyone has their own taste when it comes to sound so what sounds good to some, sounds terrible to others.

I just posted some sound clips of my new Magnapacks and MRT Catted H in the TALK form and some may hate it but it sounds great to me. I had the two chambers flows before and they sounds good too but I like the Magnapacks much better.

Just to add my 2 cents worth :D

I went from stock H system 2 1/4' to stock H with Flowmater 40' dual chamber sounded good but I hated the drone of the flowmater in my vert :notnice:

I changed it for a full 2 1/2' bassaniX system with high flow cats with X pipe sounds really good. :nice: with the FIPK GenII and the 75mm BBK TB/P it will just about blow the paint off of any cars trying to follow to close,, :rlaugh:

IMO it's great and no drone:nice:

I have a UPR X pipe and a Mac Flowpath catback. Sometimes its too quiet, but all I have to do is pin the gas down and let the RPMs climb.

Although its two different extremes, you cant go wrong with an offroad H or Prochamber and 40 series Flowmasters (2 chamber).

Or, an offroad X and Magnapacks...:D

yes, the dreaded X-pipe drone, and right at highway speeds so you can listen to it for hours while on a trip.

lol i got use to my drone doesnt really bother me anymore. I know a couple days after putting my x on i took a 250 mile road trip by the time i got to my destination i was so made i wanted to take off my exhaust but now i dont mind it. i get camaros that actually back down from me lol little do they know i would probably get crushed. but ehhh who cares as long as they dont know it.:D

:stupid: Listen to them first. You are the one who has to hear it everytime you drive it....better get something you like!

Damn, I really need to go to a Mustang meet. I wonder if there are any local ones in the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario Canada? I better start checking the regional forums! Thanks a lot for your input guys.

Also, I heard that flowmasters tend to REDUCE HP from stock? Has anyone ever heard this before?

o/r H here. Im not a fan of the BLAT/BARTT sound you get with the H, but other than that its sounds like a muscle car. I like the prochamber TONe over the H, but the H has edge over the prochamber in loudness. The prochamber doesnt make the car sound like a muscle car @ all.. it sounds like a unique exotic car in my book.

yep, and i dont have a 99+ gt =]

H sound clip in my sig.
