I got the 87 tune with Xcal2 and i was curious of how much gains did i really get . I didnt feel any gains , but does anyone have dyno facts of how much HP the 87 tune would actually add???
This really sucks. My car pings with 93 tune. i even tried to use the 87 tune and advance the timing 2degrees with my Xcal2 and car was also pingingwhite99gt said:On 87 i say zero..The gains are from more agressive timing aka 93 octane.
Ive seen 14+rwhp on a tunes with 93..

Something is goofy somewhere. Maybe the timing is advanced too much in the 93 tune? Who did you get it from? They may be able to help you out.Mustanggt108 said:This really sucks. My car pings with 93 tune. i even tried to use the 87 tune and advance the timing 2degrees with my Xcal2 and car was also pinging. The only thing that will work for me is 87 tune.So basically I gained completely NOTHING from my $399 (Xcal2) besides gear ratio

You will experience pinging if you advance the timing with 87 octane. You need higher octane gas to increase the timing. I didn't know places existed in the U.S. where you weren't allowed to have anything but 87 octane... some cars require higher from the factory!
Try this, do some math and get some octane booster to get your gas to 94 octane or so. Then try the tune. I don't know what this would accomplish if you can't buy 93 octane gas, but at least you can get the satisfaction that $400 did something ...

The supplies are hard to come by in some palces on the coast. There are still stations where I live that only have 87 some days.FalconGuy016 said:Holy crap four posts.
