If any of you have ever had to gut a house after flooding, you know it sucks. I spent all day yesterday helping a friend cut wet sheetrock, carpet, and insulation out of his home, and pile it in his front yard along with everything he owned that is all ruined. I feel so bad for him... and there are literally millions in the same position.

Saying that sucks is an understatement.We lived through several Hurricanes here- Andrew, Irene, Hugo, Katrina... Just know two things.. Most items are replaceable and it's going to take longer than you think to get back to "normal". Glad you and your family are safe- that's what matters.

Is that your pole barn in the back? That sucker is nice and elevated, mustangs be cozy dry in that. You build a loft in the rafters and ya'll got a place to stay during the cleanup for the in-laws!

I'm in the DFW area, they shut down a major pipeline to Dallas and everybody went nuts. Many gas stations ran out of gas starting Thursday morning. People are crazy, cleaning out the grocery stores now too thinking if gas goes then famine and war. These foolish people cause the problems with panic.

Anyways, stay safe down there and I hope the journey back to normal is a swift one..

Need gas in Houston area ? Last nights news said 100,000 cars are partially under water. I bet some of those gas tanks don't have water in them .Got to be a junkyard full of gas.

So odd how the level keeps going up and down. I read about that "bathtub" effect though. Hope your house is still dry. I had to clean out my flooded basement in my old house, and yes it does suck. Messy as hell, heavy, and smelly. At least most folks in TX dont have basements. We had a catastophic flooding event here in 2008, basements very fully submerged and the water had to be pumped out of all the homes. Good luck with the clean up man, glad everyone is ok. From the looks of your place, you must be living right for it to come up to the front door and stop (assuming it stayed there over night).

I have never been through something like this. My sister's place did get hit by a tornado a few years ago. The has affect is felt here in Georgia too. Gas has gone up $.50 so far and several stations have sold out. Praying for yall.

I know that's true for up here. You have to specify that you want the flood insurance to get it. Certain areas here the mortgage companies require the coverage.

All that said, yeah, it's going to suck for a lot of people.

I think Walmart is donating $2 to Red Cross for every $1 donated. I do not know the fine print.
