your thoughts on how to lower my stang?

hey guys got a question for ya. I don't know much about suspension so..... here goes, i have a 2004 mustang GT convert.

i want to drop my stang about 1-1.5 inch's. I don't want it slammed, i just want a nice stance ya know?? i have heard you can cut the springs. but i would rather but new one's, i'm tired of cutting corners.

Who makes good drop kits for us??? also do you have any pics of yours? i would like to keep the ride quality and stuff the same. just looking to drop it, nothing else. i have heard of drop spindle's, will those work? also will i need to get caster/camber plates as well? and what is a good deal for a shop to do the install???

Ford C-springs are fairly cheap and they'll drop about 1.5 inches. You may need Camber/Caster plates if you go lower than 1 inch though. I went with factory Mach 1 springs for a 1/2 inch drop so I didn't need CC plates. You should also get sub-frame connectors installed for your ragtop.

I have the Ford C-springs with 1/2 coil cut from the rear springs without it the rear only dropped about 3/4". Didn't need CC plates, overall drop about 1.5". You could pay a shop but I did it myself using these instructions took about 4 hrs. Then about another hour a week later to pull the rears to cut the 1/2 coil off. I have attached a pic of the finished product.

I dropped my stang with H&R springs. It said it was a 1.2" drop, but looks like a 1.5"+. Let me warn you having a stang: BUY NEW SHOCKS AND STRUTS! Holy balls I have been riding on stock shocks/struts and it is the worst ride EVER. I'm buying new Bilstein shocks and struts in about 2 weeks. $500 for a set of 4 of them, then I am also going to buy MM c/c to top it off. I finally started my full time job and have a LOT of cash flying around.

How many miles on your 04? If low I wouldn't replace the shocks/struts yet. No matter ride quality will stiffen.

I agree on getting the full length subframe connectors as well. I have the Eibach pro springs (04 vert) and I personally would not go any lower. I have long tube headers and only scaped on 1 or 2 speed bumps. the drop for the pro springs is about 1.5", some cars require the cc plates some don't. I needed them and the mm chrome ones look awesome as well, good luck !!

my stang has about 19k miles on it right now. i might go with the ford C spring's but are the good quality? what do the c/c plates do for the ride? why would i need to get new one's? bout what do they cost and what are good name brands?
Also its my daily driver so i might just have the shop do it. bolt on's like t/b, cat back, h-pipe, plennum, CAI that was all easy. i dunno bout this though.... thx guys

They are Ford Quality is Job 1 remember, CC don't do anything for the ride they give you more adjustment for wheel alignment which some need when lowered. And really, read through the link I posted above it's not that hard to do and save you some money for another bolt-on.

I had the Ford C-springs on my 98GT. It was just the right amount of drop for me I did go with the C/C's.

If you don't want it slammed then go with Eibach Pro-Kit. Nice drop but, not too extreme. I would strongly suggest you change out your shocks and struts at the same time for best ride quality!

I put "C" springs on mine a few weeks ago. I love how much it dropped--about an inch to an inch and a half AT MOST (I didn't measure before/after) but I really like the stance of it. I would suggest doing it yourself or with a friend as it is pretty easy to do. I do like the ride as it is more comfortable than stock--it seems to ride a whole lot nicer.

ok, thanks for all the post guys. this helps a lot. i guess i just have to decide to either go with the ford C springs or eibach, which ever i pick, i think i will get them off of rbay. i'm debating if i can/should do it myself. i love all the info and pics on here. also is 1 day enough time to get the front and back done??? And i'm sorry if i didnt spell stuff right, we just had a few drinks right before we came back to our room (out of town) so you know how that goes..... thanks.

P.S. love that blue hard top GT, who ever has that, VERY NICE MAN

FOrd C spring is nicely priced, and get you about 1.5" dropp, as well as Eibach Pro kit. But I was told that they are same spring befor...is that true?

I was debating between Steeda Sports and FRPP C springs. Ended up going with the C's because, from what I found, the spring rate was the same for both but the C's were $70 cheaper.
I also did the swap myself, having never touched the suspension on any car, ever, I did it in 4 hours with basic sockets, two jack stands and a jack. Actually learned a lot while doing it.

:OT: Well, i put the Eibach pro springs on her. I think she looks good. not TOO low, but she doesnt look like she is going to go off road any more. Just want to say thanks to all of you for your input on this. I am hoping to gets some pics of her she gets out of the body shop. (bummer).

My GT had springs cut to the tune of 2". Loved it in every aspect.

I replaced my factory springs with Ford Racing B springs and it lowered it about 1" in the rear and 1.5" in the front.
