Anyone have Clearmask on their car?

It's worth the coin San get it. :nice:
I had that stuff put on my WRX and it preserved my front
and rear bumper quite well. You couldn't even see the clear
mask protector on my bumpers and it never peeled on my either.
You can also get it from here www.cal-mustang.com .
If you don't see it on the site just call them they have it.

Was the one you had the 3M branded one too?

I think industry-wise, 3M is generally regarded as the best stuff.

Is Cal's the 3M one? I'll try search.

Here's what the clearmask.com one covers:

It seems to cover exactly where it's needed, IMO. They make a larger kit, but it wraps around the side where I don't think any rocks/objects contact anyway:

What do you think? The first one or the second one? I'm leaning toward the smaller kit...

Yes, the one on my old WRX was 3M.
3M is the best stuff in the industry if you can fined it.
I really don't know for sure if the one from Califorina Mustang is 3M though.
I agree get the smaller one San because the larger one could possibly be too big.
The place I got mine from on Ebay also had a small and large size and I ended
up going with the small one and it fit like a glove. :nice:

I'm thinking the smaller one too as it'll be easier to put on.

I watched their instructional video and it doesn't appear too hard, but looks are deceiving.

When I look at my the sides of my front bumper, I don't notice any rock chips. That mainly happens on the rear bumper. I guess that's why I'm leaning more toward the smaller one.

I had my friend how works at a body shop install mine and looks are
deceiving you are right. He said it took him just about one hour on each
bumper and he did his best to get it perfect. After it did look nice and like
I said you couldn't even tell it was there.

Get qoutes from a clear bra installer near you (Check a tint place, not one of the sound shops or a car dealer). I got my clear bra 18"s worth on the hood and down to the lights for 140.00 which is more material than is used in that kit AND installed.

Plus no shop is going to give you a warranty on materials you didn't purchase from them. My install came with a lifetime yellowing warranty and defective install for life.

I am considering clear bra myself, but I am still a bit worried about yellowing of the film (even though the materials have improved). There are also different opinions on whether wax/polish gets caught on the sides of the film being almost impossible to get off again.

Remember to give the paint time to cure before installing the kit. I talked to a bodyshop manager and he said one month should be safe. However if you can wait even longer, the following is a guide on how long the common paint brands take to cure:

Sherwin-Williams - 90 days
Akzo Nobel Inc. - 30 days
Dupont Corp. - 90/120 days (driven/garage)
BASF - 120 days

Finally, I am using these protectors behind my rear wheels, as I noticed a lot of scratches from my rear wheels throwing dirt and rocks. They are easy to install and can be reapplied as many times as you'd like.

I have bought the Cleartastic twice. The first set turned yellow and looked terrible, although it protected the bumper well.

The second set just didn't want to stick, no matter how clean and wax free my bumper was. I ended up taking it off.

hey san man how did u get the "standard" kits to come up on clearmask's site?... i can only find the xl in their store. i think im gonna pick some of this crap up for the f bumper, front of hood, and behind rear tires. looks like good stuff

They only sell the full sized kit for the GT. The standard kit is available only for the Cobra bumper I guess
