I have 165cc heads and want to upgrade the rocker studs. The stock AFR studs are 3/8, but they have been known to snap on occasion. I would like to upgrade to ARP. ARP makes 3/8 studs for these heads PN: ARP 134 7104. However, I would like to upgrade to 7/16 and I do not have the ARP PN. Does anybody know the ARP PN for the 7/16 studs that will work with these heads.

It seems nobody know the answer. I do not believe that AFR studs are made by ARP? Is this right. I am looking at the the 7/16 ARP studs from summit. I am planning an order to summit and need to know what the ARP 7/16 stud that works on the AFR 165cc heads. I found these studs on Summits website and they look like they might work.

According to this site in the archives the ARP 3/8 stud part number for AFR 165 cc heads is ARP-134-7104. I am using the 3/8 dimensions and compare to a 7/16 stud to find the right part. The closest match in 7/16 is the ARP-100-7101 7/16 stud. I called ARP and they said this is the closest dimensions compared to the ARP-134-7104. The differences are the base stud (stud ging in the head) is slightly .040 longer and the stud that the rocker atttaches to is .005 longer. I am wondering if anybody has used these? It looks like as long as the head will take the longer base stud length these will probably work?

I did not get any help on this one but I now know the answer. The ARP-134-7104 is the correct part number for 7/16 studs on AFR 165cc heads. They bolt on with out any modification and clear the stock valve covers just fine.

Since when has the rumor started that AFR's 3/8" studs "snap on occasion"? I think you're making a little too big of a deal out of this, unless you're running high valve spring pressure I don't think you need 7/16" rocker studs. I've had my AFR 165's bouncing off the rev limiter @ 6250 waiting for the tree, I don't think you're going to have any problems with them.

I did not buy my roller rockers when I decided to upgrade. And since the 3/8 and 7/16 roller rockers cost the same it cost me the low price of thirty dollars to upgrade to ARP 7/16. Cheap insurance and I won't have to worry about whether the afr stock 3/8 studs will hold up or not.
I know, years old thread... But, I don't believe this info to be correct if you're looking for 7/16" studs. Summit lists the 7104 as having the correct 7/16-14 base thread, but the other end of the stud for the rocker arm, has a thread size/pitch of 3/8-24

If one wants a true 7/16" stud, on both ends, then it seems part number ARP 234-7206 would be correct. The dimensions match what AFR lists on their site for the SBF if you search AFR's website. Their part number for the Renegade 165 head upgraded rocker studs (6411) is no good.

This thread caused me to buy the wrong studs because I didn't do my research properly and took the forums' advice while under an extreme lack of sleep. lol
